Hilary Tarkington Stowers is the founder of Holistic Health and Nutrition, LLC a health counseling practice serving Northern Virginia. A member of the AADP (The American Association of Drugless Practitioners), Hilary offers individual and family health and nutritional counseling.
Hilary has had an active interest in health and fitness for many years. After being diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2003, she became certified as a SPIN instructor through Johnny G/Mad Dogg Athletics, and began teaching classes at local gyms. Striving to achieve optimal health and wellness, she sought additional ways to improve her hypothyroidism (and subsequent Lyme disease diagnosis) by examining food and its impact.
After being diagnosed with a wheat/gluten intolerance in 2008, she was inspired to pursue a certification in holistic health counseling through The Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). IIN is the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories—combining the knowledge of traditional and modern philosophies. As a Certified Holistic Health Counselor, Hilary is able to treat people and help them navigate through dietary challenges associated with a variety of diagnoses, including thyroid, Lyme disease, allergies, lipedema, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and many other conditions. Hilary strives to improve her clients’ health and energy levels, providing them with a positive nutritional counseling experience.
In addition to her holistic health counselor certification, she also possesses a Bachelor’s of Science from Bowling Green State University, and is certified in CPR/AED/First Aid. Hilary graduated from George Mason University with a master's degree in Education with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in December 2024. Hilary is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and is a Certified Grief Educator. Originally from Silver Spring, MD, Hilary has resided in Leesburg, VA since 2004, with her husband, Sam.
I received my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I studied a variety of dietary theories and practical lifestyle coaching methods. We collaboratively tailor goals to move you toward your ideal vision of health within your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and resources.
